Something to share in every single week throughout the year

Week 14 – St. Joseph’s Church

St. Joseph’s Church is located at 143 Victoria Street, Singapore. It is said that every Good Friday, Catholics from across Singapore commemorate the crucifixion of Christ with a procession through the grounds of St. Joseph’s Church. In 1825, Father Francisco da Silva e Maia founded the Portuguese Mission on the site where St. Joseph’s Church now stands, and this was the first place of Catholic worship in Singapore. The old church was demolished in 1906 and the new church, the one you see on the picture, was opened in 1912.
